I have fallen in love with Milwaukee all over again. Milwaukee continues to surprise me and giving me new reasons to love this city even more. Kristofer and I went for a walk along Milwaukee's Riverwalk. It was such a beautiful day to take a walk. The River Walk has some great scenery along the Milwaukee River along with some fantastic restaurants that I cannot wait to try.
Along with the beautiful scenery and breathtaking views and fantastic restaurants, we get to see some beautiful artwork along the Milwaukee River as we were outside enjoying the beautiful weather. You can find out more information about the Milwaukee River at their website Milwaukee River Walk District.
When some people think of artwork they imagine stuffy art galleries or museums filled with paintings on walls or on display on pedestals with equally stuffy people walking around either by themselves looking at the artwork or talking to people about the artwork and their interpretation of what the artist was trying to do.
Milwaukee does have art galleries or museums, but through to incredible organizations based here, they are bringing art to the masses. The first organization is Sculpture Milwaukee. They are a nonprofit organization whose goal is to bring artwork done by local, national, and international artists to the public in Milwaukee. The first exhibition was in 2017. Every year in June the artwork is changed to something new and stays on exhibit until October. The art will is located around downtown Milwaukee. The organization is funded entirely by grants, donations, and sponsorships. The goal is to make downtown Milwaukee a more vibrant attractive place for people to live and work in as well as make it more attractive for businesses.
Milwaukee River Walk is another great organization that has some great artwork and does some great things for Milwaukee. Its major goals are to rejuvenate and improve downtown Milwaukee. The organization is compromised of individual members, business owners, property owners, and other organizations. The River Walk connects three different neighborhoods: the historic third ward, downtown, and the Beer Line. It runs for 20 blocks down both sides of the Milwaukee River. There are many restaurants along the way and other places of interest. As you walk along the River Walk you will see sculptures that are a part of the River Walk collection. Many pieces of art are permanent, but there are several of the sculptures that are changed out periodically.
