As most of us are aware the United States and the rest of the world is under orders to stay at home and businesses considered nonessential are closed due to the corona virus pandemic. Most of us are trying to make the best of it and only go out when we need to for things that we need.
We are doing our best to keep ourselves entertained while at home. I will admit that for some of us this can be a challenge. After all there is only so much Netflix you can binge on before you go stir crazy. So, it can be a bit of a challenge to keep ourselves busy so that we do not get bored while having to stay at home.
I want to take some time to share with you my favorite things to do at home during these difficult times. I am glad that I have a job that is considered essential during these difficult times. So, because of that I am able to get out of the house and pay my bills and get out of the house once in a while.
Even so, it is still a challenge to keep myself busy. Do not get me wrong I am pretty much a homebody when I am not at work, but the idea that I need to stay at home makes it difficult for me. I have had to find ways to keep myself occupied while at home.
I love to read all kinds of books including mysteries, fantasy and historical fiction. Currently I am reading the Shannara Chronicles which is a fantasy series written by Terry Brooks. In the past I have read books such as Revenge Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger and Christmas Crimes by Anne Perry.
I also have several TV shows and YouTube Channels that I like to watch. My favorite Netflix show right now are Bates Motel and Shameless. I had been watching the series Gotham as well. My Favorite YouTube channels are Justin Livingston and Life and Fork.
I am looking for other people to share their experiences during this pandemic. Feel free to share anything including your ways to cope. You can share in the comments.
Since I got put on furlough/lay-off from the local medical clinic, I've continued working on a new refurbished food/farm blog. I've gotten into a routine of spending most of the day working on that along with the kitchen experiments that provide some content with recipes in my farmhouse kitchen. I enjoy working in my home office aka The Treehouse where I can dabble on the blog and enjoy the sounds of birds and frogs, which I would not get to relish in being holed up in an office without windows. Rather than sulk about not being "essential" at the clinic, I'm giving my dairy farmer husband and son the support they need administratively and emotionally while keeping them well …
The way that I’ve coped with being locked in my home during quarantine is by learning new recipes to make for my wife. My wife is vegan and I’m not but thanks to this free time I have learned over 200+ recipes that are quick and easy. Plus it helps that fruits, vegetables, and herbs are now cheaper.
